We regret to report the death, which took place on Saturday of Mrs Rebecca Chittendenof 69 Newbury Street, Wantage, wife of Mr H. E. Chittenden who for some years was storekeeper at the (Wantage) Engineering Company’s works. Mrs Chittenden had not enjoyed good health for some time and collapsed suddenly in the house in the afternoon passing away shortly afterwards. The Rev. H. Pizey officiated at the funeral which took place on Tuesday. The family mourners were the widower, Mr Edward Chittenden (son), Mr Tom Chittenden (son), Miss Jessie Chittenden (daughter), Mr J. C. Chittenden (brother-in-law), Mr and Mrs W. Webb (brother and sister-in-law), Mrs Caves (sister), Mrs Tregasser (sister), Miss D. Webb (niece) and Mrs Jarvis. Mother of Corporal Henry Chittenden. Killed in Action France/Flanders Monday 16th Apr 1917.
