the following Will was granted to James Chittendenand
John Godden:- THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF
ME JOHN CHITTENDEN of Mersham in the County of
Kent, Market Gardener. First I direct that allmy
just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and
satisfied as soon asconveniently may be after my
decease by my Executors hereinafter named I give devise andbequeath
all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my Son JamesChittenden and my Friend John Chittenden of Mersham aforesaid Surveyor (hereinaftercalled
“my Trustees”) Upon trust to pay the rents Income and annual
profits thereof untomy dear Wife Lucy during her
life and after her decease to pay the same To my son the saidJames
Chittenden during his life and after his decease to pay the same to my
daughter-in-lawEmily Chittenden the wife of my said
Son James Chittenden until the youngest child for thetime
being of my said Son James Chittenden shall have attained the age of Twenty
one years and when and so soon as such youngest child should have attained
that age In trust for myGrandson
Frederick George Chittenden absolutely he first paying thereout the sum
of Onehundred pounds to both of my grandsons
hereinafter named namely to Norman JohnChittenden
and Herbert Charles James Chittenden and also paying thereout the sum of
Twenty five Pounds to each of my granddaughters hereinafter named namely
Edith AnnieJane Chittenden Emily Beatrice

property with the payment of the said sums ofOne

is the last Will and Testament of me, Stephen Chittenden, Bricklayer of 20
Pearson Street, Greenwich in the County of Kent, on this third day of
December 1857 wherein I do bequeth unto my three
children at my decease, after all my just debts are paid all that
remains of my personal effects and property consisting of a house situated at
9 Roan St, Greenwich
and three cottages and shed at the back of said No 9, Roan Street and also
four houses No’s 7, 8, 9 and 10 on the East side of Pearson Street,
Greenwich, and I do advise that the rents of the houses shall be collected
and after ground rent, interest on mortgage repayments, insurance, rates,
repairs and collection of any other expenses attached thereto that occur the
quarter the surplas shall be equally divided
between my married daughter Amelia Charlotte Brook and George Chittenden and
William Chittenden.and further I Stephen Chittenden
do hereby appoint William Brook or his Agent to collect all rents, pay all
expenses and obtain a new mortgage, if possible, should it be required but
provided a new mortgage cannot be obtained then the said William Brook shall
dispose of the property on the most advantagous
terms possible with the advise of all interested
parties and for which receives a fair and proper percentage shall be paid
together with all needful expenses incurred in collecting the
same. And further that at the decease of either
of the before named then all his or her part that shall be enjoyed by
the husband or wives of the said parties or their children. And
it is my desire that all my building materials and tools then in possession
shall be kept in the shed for the above purpose of repairing the before named
property and an equal use of the shed shall be for the right of both of the
interested parties. I hereby revoke all my former Wills and make
this my last Will and Testament. As witness thereof proof I have
this 3rd day of December in the

Goods of Stephen Chittenden, deceased. I George Salter of 19
London Street, Greenwich, in the County of Kent, shoe strabor,
make on oath and say that I am one of the attesting witnessess
to the last Will and Testament of the said Stephen Chittenden, late of No 20
Pearson Street, Greenwich, aforesaid bricklayer, deceased, foreswore the said
Will being now hereunto annexed and bearing oaths, this third day of
December, One Thousand, eight Hundred and Fifty Seven, and having particularly
observed the words”with the advise all interest
parties” underlined in plural between the twenty around and twenty third
lines of the said Will make oath and say as follows that the said testator
executed the said will on the day of the date thereof by signing his name at
the foot thereof as the same now appears thereon in the presence of me the
said George Salter and Francis Harding, the othe
subscribed witness thereto both of us being present at the same time and we thereopon attest too and confirm the said will in the
presence of the said testator 2. And I further make oath and say
that the said testator declaration was written and made in the said Will
previously to the execution thereof. George Salter, sworn at
Greenwich, in the County of Kent this Eigth day of
June 1867. Before me Chas Aug Smith, a London Commissioner to
administer Oaths in Chancery. On the 21st December
1867 abinon with the Will annexed of
the personal Estate and Effects of Stephen Chittenden, late of No 20 Pearson
Street, Greenwich, in the County of Kent, Bricklayer, deceased, who died 12th
December 1857 at No 20 Pearson Street aforesaid was granted to Amelia
Charlotte Brook, wife of William Brook, the natural and lawful daughter of
the said deceased and as such one of the Residuary Legatees named in the said
