Units, 3rd Missouri Infantry Regiment (3 months). Organized at St
Louis, MO. 22nd Apr 1861 - attached to Lyons Army of the West -
Battle of Wilson’s Creek, 10th Aug 1861 Mustered out 4th
Sept 1861. Then probably tried to join the 19th Missouri Infantry
Regiment which was trying to organize in 1862 but failed to complete such
organization. Ref: History of Henry Co, 1883 Chittenden H. C. Born in Henry
County, Missouri 23rd Oct 1840, where he later farmed. Enl: 1862
in Confederate Colonel Lewis’ Regiment. He was at the battle of Prairie Grove
where he was taken prisoner. After his parole, he returned home having served
6 months as a POW. Ref: Official Records U.S. War Department. The War of The
Rebellion Union & Confederate Armies 1880-1902 “Chittenden……… Member of a
‘gang; with 10 or 12 others near Versailles, Missouri who stole horses circa
1st Apr 1862. |
